Flanders House and Mr. Geert De Proost, General Representative of the Government of Flanders, Belgium to the U.S. would like to request the pleasure of your and your guest’s company at a book launch of Americans in Occupied Belgium, 1914-1918 Accounts of the War from Journalists, Tourists, Troops and Medical Staff by Ed and Libby Klekowski
The book launch will be followed by a Q&A with the authors and a networking reception
Belgium in the First World War–the first country invaded, the longest occupied, and when the war finally ended, the first forgotten. In 1914, Belgium was home to a large American colony which included representatives of American companies, artists, writers and diplomats with the American Legation. After the invasion, American journalists and adventurers flocked there to follow the action. This book tells the story of the German invasion, occupation and retreat from the perspective of Americans who were there.
Thursday, October 2, at 6:30 PM (doors at 6 PM) Flanders House The New York Times Building 620 Eighth Avenue, 44th Floor New York, NY 10018
